A warm welcome awaits you from us, your hosts, Robert & Jana, to our beautiful and historic home.
Robert originates from London and Jana is from Brazil and speaks fluent Portuguese, good Spanish and some Italian - no doubt stemming from her ancestry in Venice, Italy.
We fell in love with Inveraray in 2012 and kept coming back as tourists until we made the move from the hustle and bustle of London to Inveraray in 2019.
We are both avid motoring enthusiasts and are happy to point you in the right direction whether you fancy a drive along the Lochside or high in the mountains.
Rudha-na-Craige has a rich history and was built in 1863 by the 8th Duke of Argyll for Duncan MacLullich, his Procurator Fiscal and was later occupied by the Duke's niece, Lady Elspeth Campbell.
It was later requisitioned by the Admiralty during the war years when the Loch Fyne shores were used for naval training and no doubt officers would have stayed here. Maybe even some key strategic decisions were made on these premises! Inveraray was home to No 1 Combined Training Centre called HMS Quebec.
If you look carefully, you can see the original owners’ signatures inscribed on a breakfast room window, which has remarkably lasted around 150 years!
Since taking over, we have begun to carefully select antique and interesting artwork that complements the decor.
Our peaceful home is just a short walk to the town centre and boasts 6 en-suite rooms, 3 of which are spacious suites. Most with stunning views of Loch Fyne and our single room has a garden view. The loch facing rooms are ideally placed to welcome a beautiful Scottish sunrise - weather permitting of course! You may spot some seals, dolphins, porpoise even a whale!
Rudha-na-Craige makes for a relaxing stay in a picturesque town or as a great touring base for Argyll and further afield. We have private parking and cater for modern or classic car clubs, motorcycles, cyclists and walkers.
For our motoring friends, we can provide car washing facilities should you feel the need for a bit of spit and polish. If pedal power is your thing, then your bikes can be stored indoors securely. We have a lovely warm boiler room to dry out your wet clothes and walking boots ready for the next day’s adventure.
The town centre is only a short stroll along the Lochside and offers a variety of visitor attractions and places to shop and eat. Enjoy a visit to the Inveraray Castle, Inveraray Jail or explore the hills and climb to the Dun na Cuaiche Watchtower for magnificent views of the area. Our guests will enjoy discounted entry to Inveraray Castle and Inveraray Jail.
